A Benefit for the Iona Community

Students in a university lecture hall

The WGD Gael Nation Dental Benefit is a courtesy Westchester Gentle Dentistry extends to members of the Iona University community. It is simply a reduced fee on qualifying treatment at our office.

It is not dental insurance, and it is not a membership or a plan you buy. It is also separate from the WGD Smile Club. There is no membership fee, no enrollment fee and nothing to renew. If you are part of the Iona community, just let us know when you book.

Proud to Support Gael Nation

Amanda, a Westchester Gentle Dentistry dental assistant, with a patient in Port Chester

As the Official Dental Partner of Iona University Athletics, Westchester Gentle Dentistry supports Iona’s NCAA Division I student-athletes through Protecting Gael Smiles, an athletic mouthguard initiative that will provide up to 100 custom-fitted mouthguards to Iona varsity student-athletes. Scans and fittings are performed by the WGD team under the clinical oversight of Dr. Feryal Alidadi, WGD practice owner and lead dentist.

The Gael Nation Dental Benefit carries that relationship beyond athletics, creating an ongoing connection between WGD and the broader Iona community. Protecting Gael Smiles is arranged through Iona Athletics and is separate from the Gael Nation Dental Benefit.

How the Benefit Works with Dental Insurance

If you do not have dental insurance

You receive 10% off WGD’s regular fee for qualifying treatment.

Regular fee $1,000With the benefit $900

For example, a qualifying procedure with a regular fee of $1,000 would be $900.

If you have dental insurance

  • The Benefit applies only to qualifying services that are not covered by your dental plan, and only when WGD is permitted to apply it under the applicable plan and provider agreement.
  • The Benefit does not reduce deductibles, copayments, coinsurance or any other amounts WGD is required to collect under your plan.

A service is not necessarily “not covered” simply because your dental plan pays $0 toward it. Deductibles, annual maximums, waiting periods, frequency limitations and other plan provisions may still apply. WGD will review the patient’s benefits and treatment estimate before treatment begins to determine whether the Benefit can apply.

Qualifying Treatment

Qualifying treatment includes:

Preventive Care

Including exams and cleanings

Fillings, Crowns, and Bridges

Root Canal Treatment and Extractions

Periodontal (Gum) Treatment

Cosmetic Dentistry

Dental Implants

Including single-tooth implants and full-arch / All-on-X treatment, at WGD’s standard pricing

The exclusions below apply, and if you have dental insurance, your plan’s requirements apply as well.

  • Retail products, financing fees and missed-appointment fees

FAQs – Dental Insurance & Pricing

How is the 10% calculated?

If you do not have dental insurance, you receive 10% off WGD’s regular fee for qualifying treatment. For example, a qualifying procedure with a regular fee of $1,000 would be $900.

If you have dental insurance, the Benefit applies only to qualifying services that are not covered by your dental plan, and only when WGD is permitted to apply it under the applicable plan and provider agreement. Your written treatment estimate will show the price that applies before treatment begins.

Can I use the Gael Nation Dental Benefit if I have dental insurance?

Yes. Having dental insurance does not affect your eligibility. The Benefit applies only to qualifying services that are not covered by your dental plan, and only when WGD is permitted to apply it under the applicable plan and provider agreement. The Benefit does not reduce deductibles, copayments, coinsurance or any other amounts WGD is required to collect under your plan.

Can I combine the benefit with the WGD Smile Club or other offers?

No. Only one discount applies to any treatment. Smile Club members receive Smile Club pricing, which already includes 10% off general dentistry, and the Gael Nation benefit is not added to it. The benefit also cannot be combined with the WGD Veterans Smiles Program, current promotions or specials, other specially discounted, negotiated or otherwise reduced pricing, or third-party discount cards or plans.

Can the benefit be applied to past treatment?

No. The benefit applies to qualifying treatment charged after your eligibility has been confirmed. Let us know you are part of the Iona community when you book so we can confirm it before your visit.

FAQs – Qualifying Treatment

What treatment qualifies?

Qualifying treatment includes preventive care, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canal treatment, extractions, periodontal treatment, cosmetic dentistry, and dental implants, including single-tooth implants and full-arch / All-on-X treatment, at WGD’s standard pricing. Invisalign and treatment already offered at promotional, specially discounted, negotiated or otherwise reduced pricing are not included. If you have dental insurance, your plan’s requirements also apply.

Are dental implants included?

Yes. Single-tooth implants and full-arch / All-on-X treatment can qualify when provided at WGD’s standard pricing, including standard implant case pricing. If an implant or full-arch case is already being offered at a promotional, specially discounted, negotiated or otherwise reduced price, the Gael Nation 10% is not added to that price. If you have dental insurance, your plan’s requirements also apply.

Is Invisalign included?
