WGD Gael Nation Dental Benefit
Program Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: October 1, 2026

About the Benefit
The WGD Gael Nation Dental Benefit (the “Benefit”) is offered by Westchester Gentle Dentistry (“WGD,” “we,” “us”) to eligible members of the Iona University community in connection with WGD’s sponsorship of Iona University Athletics. The Benefit is a reduced fee on qualifying treatment provided at WGD, as described in these Terms.
The Benefit is not dental insurance and is not a substitute for dental insurance. It is not a membership or a plan you buy, and it is separate from the WGD Smile Club. There is no membership fee, no enrollment fee and nothing to renew or cancel.
-
Who is eligible
The Benefit is available to:
- Current Iona University students, undergraduate and graduate;
- Full- and part-time Iona University faculty and staff;
- Iona University alumni; and
- Immediate family members of a current Iona University student. “Immediate family” means the student’s parent or legal guardian, spouse or domestic partner, or dependent child.
Eligibility applies while a person remains in an eligible category. Family eligibility is based on a relationship to a current Iona student.
Iona student-athletes are eligible on the same terms as every other Iona student. There is no separate or additional benefit for student-athletes. Protecting Gael Smiles, WGD’s custom mouthguard initiative for Iona varsity student-athletes, is arranged through Iona Athletics and is separate from the Benefit.
-
Confirming eligibility
Please tell us you are part of the Iona community when you schedule, so we can confirm your eligibility before your visit. WGD may request reasonable documentation or information to confirm eligibility. For example, students, faculty and staff may be asked to show a valid Iona ID. Family members should tell us which current Iona student they are related to.
We confirm eligibility once and note it in your patient record. If you show us an ID, we look at it and hand it back; we do not copy or keep it. We may ask you to confirm your eligibility again if your circumstances change. WGD may decline to apply the Benefit if eligibility cannot reasonably be confirmed.
-
How the Benefit works: patients without dental insurance
If you do not have dental insurance, you receive 10% off WGD’s regular fee for qualifying treatment. For example, a qualifying procedure with a regular fee of $1,000 would be $900.
-
How the Benefit works: patients with dental insurance
Having dental insurance does not affect your eligibility. However, if you have a dental plan:
- The Benefit applies only to qualifying services that are not covered by your dental plan, and only when WGD is permitted to apply it under the applicable plan and provider agreement.
- Your plan’s coverage rules, and any fees or patient responsibilities WGD is required to honor under your plan, apply first.
- The Benefit does not reduce deductibles, copayments, coinsurance or any other amounts WGD is required to collect under your plan.
-
What “not covered by your dental plan” means
A service is not necessarily “not covered” just because your plan pays nothing toward it. Deductibles, annual maximums, waiting periods, frequency limitations and other plan provisions can still apply to a service your plan otherwise covers. Before treatment begins, our team will review your benefits and tell you whether the Benefit can apply to each service.
-
Qualifying treatment
Qualifying treatment includes:
- Preventive care, including exams and cleanings;
- Fillings, crowns and bridges;
- Root canal treatment and extractions;
- Periodontal (gum) treatment;
- Cosmetic dentistry; and
- Dental implants, as described in Section 8.
Qualifying treatment is subject to the exclusions in Section 9 and the insurance provisions in Sections 5 and 6.
-
Dental implants and full-arch treatment
Dental implants can qualify for the Benefit, including single-tooth implants and full-arch / All-on-X treatment, when provided at WGD’s standard pricing, including standard implant case pricing. If an implant or full-arch case is already being offered at promotional, specially discounted, negotiated or otherwise reduced pricing, the Benefit is not added to that price. Because implant and full-arch treatment is often quoted as a complete case, we will confirm which pricing applies to your case before you proceed.
-
What is not included
The Benefit does not apply to:
- Invisalign, including WGD’s all-inclusive Invisalign fee and any Invisalign package;
- Treatment already offered at promotional, specially discounted, negotiated or otherwise reduced pricing, including implant, full-arch or other treatment cases priced that way;
- Current promotions and specials, such as WGD’s new-patient special and whitening offers;
- Retail products, financing fees and missed-appointment fees; and
- Any treatment not performed at WGD by WGD’s clinicians. The Benefit provides no credit or reimbursement for care received elsewhere.
-
One discount per treatment
Only one discount or pricing program applies to any treatment. The Benefit cannot be combined with WGD Smile Club pricing, the WGD Veterans Smiles Program, other WGD promotions or special pricing, third-party discount cards or plans, courtesy or negotiated adjustments, or any other discount on the same treatment. If you qualify for more than one WGD program, one applies to your treatment, and we will show you which before you proceed.
-
Your written estimate
Before treatment begins, we will give you a written estimate showing the price that applies to your treatment, including whether and how the Benefit applies. If the Benefit is applied in error, or to treatment that does not qualify, WGD may correct the charge, and we will tell you before doing so.
-
When the Benefit applies
The Benefit applies only to qualifying treatment charged on or after October 1, 2026, after eligibility has been confirmed. It does not apply retroactively, and no refund or credit will be issued for treatment completed or charged before the Effective Date or before eligibility was confirmed.
-
Personal to eligible individuals; no cash value
The Benefit is available only to eligible individuals as described in Section 2. It cannot be transferred, sold or shared with anyone who is not eligible. It has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash, credited to an account or exchanged for any other product or service.
-
Your clinical care
Treatment recommendations are always based on clinical judgment and your individual needs, never on whether a service qualifies for the Benefit. The Benefit does not guarantee any particular treatment, outcome or appointment availability. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
-
Program administration
WGD may decline to apply, or may withdraw, the Benefit where eligibility information is materially inaccurate, where it is sought by or for someone who is not eligible, or where it is otherwise misused. WGD may also decline to apply the Benefit where doing so would conflict with an obligation WGD owes under a dental plan or provider agreement.
-
How long the Benefit runs, and changes
The Benefit is offered during WGD’s sponsorship of Iona University Athletics. It runs from October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. If the sponsorship ends before June 30, 2027, the Benefit ends when the sponsorship ends. WGD has not committed to offering the Benefit after that period.
WGD may modify or discontinue the Benefit before June 30, 2027. Any change applies going forward only and does not affect treatment already completed or already charged. We will post any material change on this page.
Written estimates. If you receive a written treatment estimate while the Benefit is active and it includes Gael Nation pricing, you have 30 days from the date of the estimate to accept it. If you accept it within that 30-day period, WGD will honor the quoted Gael Nation pricing for the treatment described in the estimate, even if the Benefit later changes or ends, as long as:
- You remain eligible under Section 2;
- The treatment and its scope have not materially changed;
- The pricing remains permitted under any applicable dental plan and provider agreement; and
- The estimate has not otherwise expired or been superseded.
If an estimate is not accepted within the 30-day acceptance period, current pricing and current program terms apply.
-
Relationship with Iona University
The Benefit is offered by Westchester Gentle Dentistry. Iona University does not provide dental care, does not set WGD’s fees, does not administer the Benefit, and does not endorse or guarantee WGD’s services.
-
General
These Terms govern the Benefit as offered by WGD. If these Terms conflict with another WGD public-facing description of the Benefit, these Terms control. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
